Changing Brain Lab
Allyson Mackey, Ph.D.
Dr. Allyson Mackey is interested in how changes in the brain give rise to changes in the mind, both as development unfolds, and in response to experience. Her lab studies the mechanisms by which environmental factors tip the balance between plasticity/vulnerability and stability/protection to shorten or shift windows of peak plasticity. Her years in inner city public schools, first as a student, and then as a researcher, led her to concentrate her translational work on reducing the income achievement gap. The goal of her research is to promote positive educational and health outcomes for all individuals, regardless of socioeconomic background.
Lourdes Delgado Reyes, Ph.D.
Dr. Delgado Reyes is a Provost Postdoctoral Fellow in the Changing Brain Lab at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research explores how early experiences shape child development. She is particularly interested in exploring ways we can use what we learn in lab to create environments that foster optimal child development and education. In her free time she loves traveling, road trips to Caribbean beaches and playing with any and all animals.
Isis Cowan
Isis is a lab manager for the Changing Brain Lab at the University of Pennsylvania. She received her bachelors of science in psychology at Old Dominion University and hopes to pursue a Ph.D. in developmental psychology. In her free time she enjoys playing Nintendo games, painting, and exploring the city.
